Places List

You are looking at a list of all places in your account.

A Place is a named geographical location. Places are either circles or multi-point polygons, and are mainly used as geofences. Geofences trigger alerts when a tracker either enters or exits the area defined by the place.

Each place is assigned a type. and each type will generate distinct events and alerts . You can also choose whether a place will be applied to all all devices you control, or only for the specific devices that you explicitly assign.

If you have permission to assign devices to a place, you can do this by searching for the relevant trackers in the Admin site and then sending them the Place Assign command. You can see which trackers are currently assigned by clicking “View Specified Devices” when viewing an assignable Place.

Place Types

  • Impound Lots: The system monitors a large list of impound lots automatically. It is always an alarm condition if one of your vehicles in on a known impound lot.
  • Auction Lots: You can enter your own auction lots into the system. Like impound lots, It is an alarm condition if one of your vehicles is on an auction lot.
  • Sales Lots: You can enter your own sales lots into the system. If you have entered any sales lots, then It is an alarm condition if a vehicle has not yet been financed and is off all sales lots for more than 3 days. It is also an alarm condition if a vehicle has been financed and is on a sales lot for more than 3 days.
  • Maint/Repair Shops: You can enter your own maintenance& repair shops into the system. It is an alarm condition if a vehicle is inside a Maint/Repair Shop for more than 3 days.
  • Reconditioning Center: You can enter your own reconditioning centers into the system. These place types do not trigger alarms, but you can still ask the system whether a vehicle has last reported inside or outside this area, and subscribe to alerts for when a vehicle enters or exits.
  • A generic No-Entry Geofence is an area where the vehicle should NOT enter. If a vehicle is inside this geofence then this constitutes an alarm.
  • A generic No-Exit Geofence is an area where the vehicle should NOT leave (such as a state, country, or other operational area). If a vehicle is outside this geofence then this constitutes an alarm.
  • A generic Unrestricted Geofence is an area where vehicles might visit as part of normal operation. It is OK for the vehicle to be either inside or outside these places. However, you can still ask the system whether a vehicle has last reported inside or outside this area, and subscribe to alerts for when a vehicle enters or exits.

You can view all the trackers relative to a place, by viewing the place and then choosing the “View Tracker Status” action. Depending on the place type, trackers which are either inside or outside the place will be listed.

Like other items in the system, each place belongs to an account. If you have permission to create sub-accounts, then each of your sub-accounts can have their own places. To view places owned by sub-accounts, choose “Show Descendents”. You can also create places in your own account and share them with your sub-accounts. To share (or un-share) a place, edit the place and adjust the Accessibility Scope.
